Digital X-Rays in West Palm Beach, FL
Digital x-rays offer many advantages to patients of The Spine Center. Board-certified neurosurgeon, Charles S. Theofilos, MD, is able to review the images in less time compared to traditional x-rays, and he can enhance the images to detect very tiny abnormalities in the human body. The Spine Center proudly offers digital x-rays as part of our diagnostic testing suite to patients in West Palm Beach, Port St. Lucie, Palm Beach Gardens and south Florida, as well as those who travel internationally to receive treatment from Dr. Theofilos.
What are Digital X-Rays?
Digital radiography is an advanced form of x-rays offering many benefits to our patients. In many medical environments, digital x-rays have replaced traditional x-rays as the standard for diagnostic testing. Dr. Theofilos uses the digital images to diagnose your condition and guide his treatment recommendations.
What are the Benefits of Digital X-Rays?
Digital x-rays do not require chemical processing, so Dr. Theofilos is able to review the results in less time. He can also transfer the files to our electronic medical record system for review later, archiving and sending to your other medical specialists, if needed. Patients prefer digital x-rays because they do not require exposure to radiation to obtain the images, and the images can be transferred and stored more easily than traditional x-rays.
How Do Digital X-Rays Work?
Digital x-rays require the use of a special imaging system. The system allows us to:
- Review the images immediately after they are taken
- Quickly and easily retake images of substandard quality
- Provide high-quality diagnostic imaging at a lower patient cost
- See greater image detail compared to traditional x-rays
- Enhance images to delineate fine details that guide treatment
The procedure for digital x-rays is similar to traditional x-rays.
Are Digital X-rays Covered by Insurance?
Coverage for digital x-rays varies by insurance carrier, so you may have some out-of-pocket expenses. The Spine Center does not offer traditional x-rays, and Dr. Theofilos bases his diagnosis and treatment only on digital x-rays due to the higher quality of the images. For your portion of the cost, we accept several forms of payment, including financing through LendingUSA®.
What Happens During a Neurosurgery Consultation for Digital X-Rays?
Based on the physical examination, Dr. Theofilos may refer you for digital x-rays as part of his diagnostic plan. You should plan for your consultation to take one to three hours. After the digital x-rays are taken, Dr. Theofilos will review the images with you and describe his findings. Once you understand the nature of your condition, Dr. Theofilos will explain your treatment options.
The Spine Center uses digital x-rays as part of our diagnostic process to ensure patients receive accurate and reliable information about their conditions. The images are used to guide treatment options by Charles S. Theofilos, MD, a board-certified neurosurgeon and the founder of The Spine Center.
